Abstract

The openness of a religion towards new insights leads tochanges of symbolic order as well as the characteristics and performanceof the religion. Nowadays, many people assume that spirituality can beachieved in the mass consumption for symbols, icons and cult objectsso that a consumer culture makes up the opportunity to meet the desireand evoke the human subconscious. One of the cultures is the changesof Muslims fashion in Indonesia. Some artists start to wear jilbab and itbecomes a trend among ordinary people. As we know, jilbab is obligatoryto some female Muslims, but nowadays it is likely a kind of trend in fashion. In fact, jilbab itself shows the identity of female Muslims. When a femaleMuslim has decided to wear jilbab, it is sure that she has got the hidayah(inspiration) to make herself closer to God. Among the motivations of artiststo wear jilbab is the fulfillment of their spiritual need and other factors arealso possible.

Abstract

Children in acquiring languages pass through a processwhich is unique, step by step, continuous, and flourish until gaining theperfect ability. Along with the physical deelopment, children experienceintellectual and mental growth including language intelligence. Languageacquisition is defined as children’s way in acquiring their first languageor mother language naturally and unconsciously, not formally so thatthey have good language skills. Children’s language development fromnewborn phase to its perfection occurs toward almost all children with thesimilar steps. Children’s language development continues to its perfectionalong with their extensive asociation and interaction with their surroudings.Children are motivated intrinsically or extrinsically to keep deepening theirlanguage skills because with their language they can understand theirsurroundings and develop their ability. There are some opinions relatedto how chidren acquie their first language –Behaviorism, Nativism ormentalism, Cognitivism, Interactionism, and functional theory. Each theoryhas various perspectives about how children can obtain their first language.

Abstract

Jilbab is identical to the symbol of a pious woman eventhough it raises a controversy. The topic about jilbab has never cometo a final and in fact, jilbab in Indonesia has grown evolutionarily. Theact of wearing jilbab is influenced by some factors, such as: culture, interpretation of religious doctrines, society, economy, psychology, andglobalization trend. Hijab generally means kerudung(a simple headscarf),or cloth covering woman’s aurat(i.e. parts of the body that should becovered based on Islamic doctrine). Meanwhile, when talking about theveil, one usually refers to the scarf tied around the head, and usuallysubject to Muslim women. Nowadays, the discourse about jilbab coversnot only syari’a concept, but also fashion trend concept as the influenceof modern era and cultural shift existing in the society. Women who wearjilbab psychologically consider jilbab not as a religious duty but as a cultureand habit causing a feeling of discomfort not wearing it. Many progressivewomen keep wearing jilbab for their psychological comfort.

Abstract

Human Development Index (HDI) and Gender DevelopmentIndex (GDI) of regencies show disparity with the achievements ofthe national and provincial levels. One of which is the HDI and GDI ofBanjarnegara Regency, which is lower than Central Java Province, even the third-lowest among regencies in Central Java. IN addition, the disparity between HDI and GDI shows that the development resultshave not been accessed by both men and women fairly and equally. Theproblem of gender development in Banjarnegara Regency is reflectedin the low level of participation of school-aged children both male andfemale, the high rate of maternal mortality, the low absorption of womenjob seekers in employment, violence against women, the lack of womenpolitical representation, and so forth. In connection with these conditions,Banjarnegara regency has spawned the policies of gender responsive localdevelopment strategies as a form of commitment and hard work of localgovernments to resolve the issue of gender in the area. The commitmentand efforts of local government deserves appreciation.
